Our (Impromptu) Engagement Photos are Here

Our last minute engagement photo shoot
Behold: a lesson in last-minute engagement photos! Lockie and I are not a traditionally minded couple. We do not feel the need to do things because society says so. Initially, I didn’t think I cared about having engagement photos but after some time I knew that if I DIDN’T have any, I would be disappointed.
Lucky for me, one of Lockie’s best friends is a wedding photographer. When Reyna (reynarobynphotography.com) told us she was going to be in town and offered to take some impromptu engagement photos for us, I couldn’t say no. Sometimes life just works out beautifully like this and I never take it for granted.

Here’s how we did it
On Sunday, I heard Lockie mention that Reyna might be in town next weekend and offered to take photos for us.
By Wednesday, I messaged Reyna asking if she was serious about doing a mini engagement photoshoot for us this weekend.
Then on Thursday, I picked out two dresses and a pair of shoes that I had!
On Friday (the day of the shoot!), I put on fake tanner in the morning and watched a YouTube makeup tutorial. On the way home from work, I stopped at Target for subtle fake eyelashes and at the dollar store for an American flag. That afternoon, I curled my hair and did my makeup…at sunset we were off! We did some photos at our new house and then walked to the park across the street. Easy. Breezy.

The end results
I gotta say, these photos turned out better than I could have ever imagined! We shot for about an hour and I got photos that I will cherish forever. After going through this quick process, I am grateful for the last minute decision making. I didn’t have to spend weeks picking out an outfit, getting my hair colored, etc.
Huge shout out to Reyna for being the pro that she is and making Lockie comfortable with something that isn’t natural for him. (In fact, he hates taking photos.) I swear, these are the best photos he’s ever taken. <3
