Flyaway Kids Bed discount code for $10 OFF use “MISTY”
You may have seen my viral video YEARS ago that introduced the world to the Flyaway Kids Bed. Fast forward 3 years and I’m STILL using the bed and can’t recommend it enough. My son is now 4-years-old and can still utilize the bed for sleeping and playing on overnight flights. We recently took our new baby and our son to Australia, and I documented our flight journey as a family of 4. See details below in my new reel below! How we got our toddler and baby to sleep on our overnight flight to Australia
This was our first time taking 2 kids (our 7-month-old baby and our 4-year-old) to Australia to see my husband’s family. We knew getting them to sleep comfortably on the long overnight flight was key to a successful trip. We decided to try the Flyaway Bed again with our 4-year-old, Lennox, in hopes that it would still suit him. And we would try the free airplane bassinet for our baby, Birdy, something we’d never used with our son. When we booked our flight we saw on the seat map that this bulkhead row had a bassinet, so we booked it with confidence and didn’t pay for a seat for our baby. She’s under 26 pounds (the weight limit) so we knew this would work well for her, and it did. She fell asleep with no problem after we put her in her normal sleep sack and didn’t even use a sound machine. Amazing!
For Lennox, we knew that using the Flyaway Bed at age 1 and 2 was great…but we didn’t know if it would work for a 4-year-old. Spoiler: it DID! As a reminder, the bed comes with a hand pump to inflate it but it’s a bit noisy. So blow up the bed (after takeoff) but before the plane quiets down and other passengers fall asleep. Right after meal service is what we like to do. Lennox was able to curl up on his side and lay comfortably on the bed.
Flyaway Bed Features
I love and recommend the Flyaway Bed because it’s made of VERY high quality thick material that won’t puncture easily. It has bumpers on the sides to prevent rolling. It can and should be used with a seatbelt over it. Yes, it can work in the bulkhead as its sturdy to stand up on its own without a row in front of it. Of course, it does also work in a regular row and it has a special pressure valve that will adjust the bed to the width of your legroom without losing its shape and strength. Pretty cool!
Pro Tip
Don’t skip this! Make sure you check Flyawaydesigns.com to see if the airline you are traveling on (or typically like to fly on) allows the bed. It would be a shame to buy the bed and then not be able to use it on your flight! We have used the bed successfully on Delta and United flights, however, sometimes it can be up to the specific flight crew.
