Unique birthday party idea: Nighttime LED standup paddleboarding
My friend Renee threw an LED SUP night tour birthday party and I loved this unique idea so much that I had to write about it.
We went to Paddle House in Redondo Beach, CA for a 90 minute LED nighttime standup paddleboarding tour around the marina ($40 pp). The company did a wonderful job organizing a large group for the tour, outfitting us with last minute wetsuits, special requests, and more.
The Paddle House shop itself (located on the dock of the marina) includes a cute clothing boutique, couch lounge area, coffee bar for members, sauna (!), and a refrigerator full of cream’wiches from local hotspot Manhattan Beach Creamery.
No, it wasn’t cold on the tour. And I wore yoga pants. The constant motion and maneuvering of the board is a workout for your upper body and keeps you nice and warm! The hardest part was trying not to hit boats in the marina ;)
We had an unusually windy night which limited our tour a bit, but the guides claim that on a regular night fish often jump on the boards and sting rays follow the tour. Pretty neat.
